Hi, and welcome to my blog! I’m an oceanographer, writer, educator and activist. I research and write about climate-related issues for a non-profit organization.
In my spare time (ha! I have two little kids) I’m writing the first in a series of science fiction/suspense novels featuring a young woman who discovers evidence of a prehistoric race of humans who were adapted to life in the oceans. The working title for book #1 is “First Wave”
I’ll post updates on my writing as well as some of the amazing research I’m doing for the books, including information about deep-sea life, and the evolution of marine mammals (real and fictitious!). I hope you enjoy the site – visit often!

Hello there. Love the layout and ocean theme of your blog. Cant wait to grow with you as a writer. Oneday we can look back on this post and remember when we were just starting out!
Off to email you.

Hi Danielle
I wanted to let you know I really enjoyed reading your comments – good writing – although my knowledge of the ocean is strictly recreational I’ve grown up in and around the Atlantic and feel a strong bond with the ocean.
I also consider myself part of the ocean family (NOAA) through marraige to Lynne & friendship with so many folks in the Agency. Keep it up – I’ll continue to follow & read.
Oh yeah, why do you do it? Must be all your free time…
